Business process automation services

Robotic process automation, intelligent document processing, workflow orchestration and AI agents — applied to the processes where automation genuinely pays back, and only those.

Automation has a credibility problem, and it is self-inflicted. Too many programmes automate whatever process was volunteered first, discover that the exceptions outnumber the happy path, and quietly stall at four bots nobody maintains.

We assess before we automate. Volume, variability, exception rate, stability of the underlying system and the real cost of the manual process — those five things tell you whether a process should be automated, redesigned, or left alone. We are comfortable telling you the answer is the third one.

What we measure

These are the measures we baseline at the start and report on throughout — not results claimed in advance.

Straight-through processing rate
Share of transactions completing with no human touch. The honest headline number for any automation, and the one we baseline first.
Exception rate and cause mix
How often the automation hands back to a person, and why — tracked by cause so the top failure modes get fixed rather than tolerated.
Handling time
Average time per transaction before and after, measured on the same definition so the comparison actually means something.
Automation availability
Uptime of the automation itself, including failures caused by upstream system changes — the metric most RPA programmes forget to track.
What's included

Capabilities within automated solutions

Process Discovery & Automation Assessment

A structured evaluation of your candidate processes that produces a ranked pipeline with expected payback — and an explicit list of what not to automate.

  • Process mining and task-level time capture
  • Automation suitability scoring on volume, variability and stability
  • Cost-benefit model per candidate with payback period
  • Prioritised automation pipeline sequenced by value and risk
  • Explicit do-not-automate list with the reasoning recorded

Robotic Process Automation

Software robots for rule-based, high-volume work across systems that have no usable API — built with exception handling as a first-class concern.

  • Attended and unattended bot development
  • UiPath, Power Automate and Automation Anywhere
  • Exception handling and human-in-the-loop escalation design
  • Orchestrator setup, scheduling and queue management
  • Bot monitoring, alerting and maintenance runbooks

Intelligent Document Processing

Extracting structured data from invoices, contracts, forms and correspondence, with confidence thresholds that route uncertain cases to a person instead of guessing.

  • OCR and layout-aware extraction from PDFs, scans and email
  • Document classification and routing
  • Confidence scoring with human review queues
  • Validation against master data and business rules
  • Continuous accuracy monitoring with retraining triggers

Workflow & Orchestration Automation

Automating the process itself rather than the clicks — replacing email-and-spreadsheet coordination with an orchestrated workflow that has state, rules and an audit trail.

  • Business process automation on ServiceNow, Salesforce or Power Platform
  • Approval chains, SLA timers and automatic escalation
  • Cross-system orchestration and event-driven triggers
  • Case management with a complete audit trail
  • Low-code app development for gaps between systems

AI Agents & LLM Applications

Language-model applications applied where they hold up under scrutiny — retrieval over your own knowledge, drafting, classification and triage — with evaluation and guardrails built in.

  • Retrieval-augmented generation over your internal knowledge base
  • Support triage, classification and response drafting
  • Agentic workflows with tool use and human approval gates
  • Evaluation harnesses, regression sets and output guardrails
  • Data residency, PII handling and prompt-injection defences

Predictive Analytics & Machine Learning

Models built to answer a decision someone actually makes, deployed into the workflow where that decision happens — not left in a notebook.

  • Forecasting, churn, propensity and anomaly detection
  • Feature engineering and model development
  • MLOps — versioning, deployment and drift monitoring
  • Model explainability and bias assessment
  • Deployment into the operational workflow, not just a dashboard
Our approach

How an engagement runs

Five phases, each with deliverables you can point at. No phase ends on a status report alone.

  1. 01

    Discover & qualify

Map the candidate processes, capture real volumes and handling times, and score each one for automation suitability against evidence rather than enthusiasm.

    Deliverables

    • Process inventory with measured volumes and handling times
    • Suitability scores with the scoring rationale shown
    • Ranked pipeline with payback estimates
    • Do-not-automate list with reasoning
  2. 02

    Design the target process

Redesign the process before automating it. Automating an inefficient process just produces a faster inefficient process with a maintenance contract.

    Deliverables

    • Optimised target process design
    • Exception taxonomy with defined handling paths
    • Solution architecture and tooling selection
    • Control, audit and compliance design
  3. 03

    Build & pilot

Develop the automation and run it in parallel with the manual process on live data, so accuracy is proven before anyone relies on it.

    Deliverables

    • Developed automation with exception handling
    • Parallel-run results with a variance analysis
    • Tuned confidence thresholds and routing rules
    • Operational runbook and support procedures
  4. 04

    Deploy & scale

Controlled production rollout with monitoring in place from the first transaction, then extension to adjacent processes once the first is genuinely stable.

    Deliverables

    • Production deployment with phased volume ramp
    • Monitoring, alerting and failure escalation paths
    • Operator training and handover materials
    • Benefits tracking against the original baseline
  5. 05

    Operate & improve

Automations break when the systems underneath them change. Ongoing operation means monitoring, repairing and improving straight-through rates over time.

    Deliverables

    • Ongoing monitoring and incident response
    • Change impact assessment when upstream systems update
    • Periodic exception review with fixes prioritised by volume
    • Continuous improvement backlog with measured impact

How you can contract this

Different problems want different commercial shapes. We will tell you which one fits, including when it is the cheapest one.

Automation assessment

A standalone discovery producing a ranked, costed automation pipeline you own regardless of who builds it.

Best for
Deciding where automation is worth the investment
Commercials
Fixed fee, typically 2–4 weeks

Proof of value

One end-to-end process automated and run in production, so the business case rests on your own data rather than a vendor benchmark.

Best for
Building internal support before a wider programme
Commercials
Fixed price for a single scoped process

Automation programme

A standing team delivering automations continuously against a managed pipeline, with a governance rhythm around it.

Best for
A pipeline of processes across several functions
Commercials
Monthly pod rate with a delivery commitment

Automation support

Monitoring, maintenance and improvement of automations already in production — whoever originally built them.

Best for
An existing estate that has become fragile
Commercials
Monthly rate by bot count and support hours

FAQ

Questions we get asked

How do you decide whether a process is worth automating?

We score it on five factors: transaction volume, how much the inputs vary, the exception rate, how stable the underlying systems are, and the genuine cost of doing it manually today. A high-volume process with a 40% exception rate and a system due for replacement is a bad candidate, however painful it feels.

Will this replace people's jobs?

The engagements that succeed redirect capacity rather than cut headcount — the automation absorbs the repetitive volume and the team moves to exception handling, quality and work that needs judgement. We would rather set that expectation honestly at the start than have it discovered later.

What happens when the system the bot uses gets updated?

The automation breaks — this is the single biggest cause of RPA estates decaying. We build monitoring that detects failure immediately, design bots to be resilient to minor interface changes, and include upstream change impact assessment in ongoing support.

Are AI agents reliable enough for production work?

For some tasks, yes; for others, not yet, and the difference matters. Classification, retrieval over your own documents, drafting and triage hold up well with proper evaluation. Anything where a confident wrong answer is expensive needs a human approval gate, and we design those in rather than around.

How do you keep our data out of public AI models?

By deploying within your cloud tenancy or a contracted region, using enterprise endpoints with no training on your data, redacting PII before inference where the use case allows, and documenting the data flow so your security and compliance teams can review it properly.

Let's talk about what you're trying to build.

A short conversation is usually enough to tell whether we're the right fit. If we're not, we'll say so and point you somewhere better.
